Flexstructure:
This dynamic free standing structure aims to use torsion and pretention to create a flexible surface that is easy to build and can be used for various purposes. The design for the structure is inspired from natural systems such as human spine and an armadillo armor.
The key notion is to enable tortion and pretention to be applied on a surface rather than on a linar curve by an assembly of multiple spine- like curvatures together.
The research, guided by Prof. Rivka Oxman at the Experimental Design Program Faculty of Architecture & Town Planning, Technion, uses parametric design properties that can create multi task forms in real time for communal activities and to generate urban events.
