Stone cubes house The project aims to add a large volume to a 1919 stone house located
at the very heart of the veteran neighborhood of Katamon in Jerusalem. In order to honor the existing layer of past and stone construction artwork, a modern twin stone cube was designed.
This cube was designed to use stone as a construction material rather than cladding, but at the same time find a new interpretation to its properties and applications. The way to do that was to use the stone horizontally as louvers and enable light penetrate in and out of it. The old massive stone cube lies heavily on the ground, whereas its modern twin soars highly above. In terms of composition, each element is separated by an inner glass envelope that emphasize the relations between the masses.
