Elami residence
Extreme topography, complex program for an extended family, detailed plan that imposes the use of a pitched roof and an unequivocal reference to the magical view of the Jerusalem mountains. These were all the elements that started our search for new formative and design typologies for this house. The view, being the most precious resource of the property, plays a key roll in the dwellers everyday lives, as it follows them all around and all the time. Volumes were subtracted out of the asymmetric mass to create tow stone shells that wrap the main facades.
The entire distribution of the functions was then based on a constructive grid that appears on the facades as a bare steel construction and enables a wide range of compositions that produce opaqueness and translucency.
